I was in traffic court. A girl ahead of me was up for failure to produce documents. She gave the judge her explanation that she had had a disagreement with her mom abd walked out leasing all her stuff in her room. When she didn’t produce the documents she got reminder letters but her mom never told her. The judge asked her had she ever heard the song “the living years” she said she hadn’t. He told her to go home and listen to it. For those that don’t know it’s about a guy who had a disagreement with his father and they never spoke again. Then his father died and the guy regretted never speaking to his father before he died. I have 4 older brothers. I was working at a telecommunications engineering company in the Philadelphia area when we found out that one of the System Engineers was leading a secret life. He seemed like a normal person, he never raised any issues, but was very quiet. He took an extended vacation to go back to his native Pakistan over Christmas 2002. Which is not unusual, since most people who make that long a trip tend to stay several weeks. One day in June 2003, he was not in the office when I went to get some information. His co-worker said to talk to his manager, who I knew very well. When I went to see him he closed his office door and told me not to expect any information from Mohammad any time soon. I got rushed into ER because I arrived in an ambulance. The staff looked me over, took my temp, and did a little poking around. They told me I had the flu. I knew it was not the flu, told them it was not the flu, but they could not be swayed. I had two big dogs at home who had not been let out when I had gotten there earlier so I decided to go home. My friend arrived and drove me home. When I got through the door, I took a hard right to the bathroom and vomited in the toilet. I got the door open to the small back yard I had for my dogs, and spent the night on the bathroom floor, vomiting and heaving in the toilet. I kept trying to drink some water so I would not dehydrate to a dangerous point. I was in horrible pain. Every few minutes I would say to myself “In just a few minutes I will be feeling better.” I did that over and over all night long. Years ago I went to a friends wedding- ceremony was great. Reception was a disaster. The bride got drunk on champagne sand started doing a strip-trase in the middle of dance floor. Everyone was shocked. Family was embarrassed on both sides. The sober guests left en masse . The families hustled themselves out quickly. The bride was so drunk she had to be carried out half naked. It was a brokerage firm in Seattle (long gone now). My friend was their computer operator, which at this time was a big mainframe in-house system with cables that ran under the floor out to the various terminals. Management, in their infinite wisdom, decided to fire him, and THEN decided that he was going to work the night shift on his last day. Work all night, be gone in the morning. When we got in that next morning, he was gone, all right. And nothing worked. He had spent part of the night cutting the heads off of dozens of boxes of small pins. And the rest of the night lifting the floor tiles and pounding those headless pins into the main cable that tied the whole system together, shorting out everything. They spent days trying to find and pull out all those fine pins before finally giving up and replacing the entire cable. I worked there, but the worst one that comes to mind was a woman and her daughter. I was working as a waitress for a Howard Johnson’s around 1970. My boss was not liked by the staff since she was abrupt and unkind in the way she treated the staff. One day I had car trouble and had to take a bus to work. The bus schedule would have me arriving about 30 minutes late so I called to notify them that I was going to be late. This would be the first time I had a problem related to working there. Before it was time to leave to catch the bus I heard a knock on my door. It was one of the other waitresses from work. She said I didn’t need to go to work since my boss had announced that I would be fired when I arrived. When I was about 15 this family moved to our hometown. 2nd marriage for both. My Dad went to school with the husband The wife had three boys, all were cute. Middle one liked me. I wasn't interested. My husband bought me a sexy light blue one-piece swimsuit from WickedWeasel to wear on vacation. I loved the look and feel. I wasn’t aware that it became transparent when wet, so when I walked out of the water I saw a lot of people looking at me. I still wasn’t aware that it was transparent until I looked down. At that point, there wasn’t much I could do about it. I went to where we were sitting and wrapped a towel around me. I asked him if he was aware that it would be transparent when wet. He smiled and said that is why he bought it. I loved seeing me in it and said we would never see the people again, so who cares. I was really upset with him for a while, but the more I thought about it the more I agreed. I wore that suit every day on vacation. Didn’t always go in the water though. Since then he has bought me several more bikinis and one-piece suits that get transparent when wet.
