So this one time we are staying in Chicago, and he finds this place that sells by the hour and prefers cash. And its gross! I men soiled filthy sheets, not washed in perhaps weeks stained and oily and just gross. Bugs and roaches all over, a bathroom that looks a lot like the worst roadside crap hole you've ever seen. I mean there was no way I was even going to sit down in this place.


I had a boss that I really liked and we traveled together along with others 5–6 times a year. Whenever he was in charge of the trip he would seek out the worst hotels on purpose. Joking it built character or some such. He didn’t really mean it, we worked for a company that gave you a fixed per diem for each major city. It included food and hotel in one sum. And if we kept it under the allotted amount you could keep the balance.
