My husband believed in God but he had deep psychological problems that led to substance abuse due to the constant pain he was in. I’m not making excuses for him but I don’t believe anything could have helped him. He was a troubled tortured soul. His pain was more than he could bear. I miss him every day. Johanna Lasheski Matroni for some people they choose to move to god as their lifeboat. Whatever works and gives them strength works. I am more spiritual myself, for me, I need to be in nature and around animals.

I will sorely miss your presence on earth. I don’t think you realize how much you are missed, chef! You are the reason why most of us where we are. I’m sorry for your demons that took you away from us but I know you up there at peace exploring the restaurants of heaven. I miss his way of describing people, and food, and seeing the beauty that is in front of us. And that could be anywhere, a street market in Asia, a restaurant in the Bronx, someone’s home in Tehran.

You will be greatly missed. It is a great sorrow to find out about his hidden weakness but he was also an advocate for those who are struggling with an addiction, whether it be alcohol or drugs or self-medicating mental illness. Anthony Bourdain was the kind of guy who was able, to tell the truth, challenge the powerful, expose the wrongdoing. He was able to do all this without being cynical or nihilistic. Forgive those who fail you, love those who support and care for you.

I love this man I never had the pleasure to meet him but I would really have to meet him live I know one day I will get to see him and talk to him miss him so much! Rest in peace my friend’s life was too hard for you and wherever you are I hope you are better you are a great person and human being. Everyone protest for minimum wage but it’s ok to pay illegals less. It’s all political and looking for excuses to keep illegals here. Once advertising is purchased those same positive reviews miraculously floated to the top of the page. Six months into advertising and having not received a single response I canceled my contract. Or they leave a bad review when they show up to a two Michelin star restaurant in shorts and a Lebron jersey and get turned away. I totally agree with his views on Yelp. Yelp can’t be trusted and should be ignored. If any business has a negative, Yelp company calls the business and say they can remove the negative review for a fee. I know this personally and heard from other businesses.

The problem is the people. It’s not even yelp reviewers, it’s the people who put too much faith in yelp reviews. Those same people put too much faith in celebrity chef reviews, they didn’t need yelp to become elitist jerks. There’s far too many people who put too much stock in Yelp reviews refusing to try a restaurant that isn’t 4 star despite the fact that maybe it’s just too niche for the area, but it’s a niche that caters to you and refusing to account for the customer that cannot be pleased because he was pissed off from the get-go that the mall you’re at doesn’t have valet parking.

This seems like an elitist complaining about the fact that their business didn’t succeed because one person had a bad experience. They give you a bad review because you don’t have an item they want, or because they were told no. And good reviews can be purchased, which is just wrong. It’s stupid and lazy to make up your opinion on a restaurant based on someone else’s opinion on a said restaurant without having not been in said restaurants. Try it on your own then make up your mind.

I always find something good to write about the place, and most of the time when I put a bad review it’s because of the service and suggests take out. Either way, deal with it, we are all being reviewed, so if you own any business, you have to always try for the best quality product. I don’t know about other people, but I never put too much weight into the status if elite yelpers. To me that just means they eat out a lot and use yelp a lot, but I wouldn’t base my decision on whether or not to eat at a restaurant based on one elite yelper review.

While I recognize the potential harm I feel it actually provides a lot of benefits for restaurants! A chain gourmet restaurant opened next to mine. I walked into the lobby and saw a table cloth stating welcome Yelpers.

If it’s bad it’s bad the chef should be able to tell if it really is or not and be the one to make adjustments if need be. You can’t please everyone and most people know that. Nice coddling that will definitely help a new business owner. The world is tough people should be kinder and tougher at the same time. All you need to know about Yelp is that they extort businesses. If you ignore their incessant calls or decline to advertise with them, plan on your positive reviews disappearing or being filtered. While your negative reviews go front and center.

About the time Yelp has steered me to a good restaurant in a strange town. I mainly check what has been written about taste and service. If they include something entitled in the review, I read the next review, to find someone who seems to have a balanced point of view. People love to complain, thankful for the good and positive response. There are restaurant scammers who want everything for free, if your sever comes to a table and asked is everything ok and you don’t respond your dinner is not free, asked could have gotten you something else, on to you.

As a bartender, it can be difficult when a guest review can make or break your job. Restaurants generally give you a bonus or free meal if you get a 5star review and may fire you over a bad review. How would you like your every interaction with a customer to be scrutinized and publicly outed? We are the change that drives this world and if we say enough with the trolls and negative just to be negative nancy’s then that will be when it’s enough.

I get that yelp was looking to make it that way so you get accurate reviews but a business grows and has poor moments from time to time it’s not all consistent until the end of time. People make mistakes but people change too. Yelp and many other review sites are just tools for good tools to complain and hurt a business’s reputation with no recourse for the business. Good idea but terrible reviews application. Unless of course, you hate small businesses. You can have reviews posted that go against their policies and they will still not remove them.

I don’t know that I can really pinpoint what I find unappealing about it. I guess maybe it feels a little off – like it’s missing something. But it’s a resource for us and I know it’s a place a lot of people do look to gather info when they are trying to make a decision. Luckily there are a lot of resources out there for us to pick and choose from in addition to Yelp! The problem with restaurants is you have to have great customer service. It’s not just the food.
